Randy Miller is the founder and president of Information Design. Randy's 30-year career has included an unusual combination of publishing, product design, law, government and business.
Randy founded Information Design (then known as The World Bureau) in 2001
to develop professional information
products. The company's first products
were an online directory of the world's
governments and leaders, along with
five related print productions. World
Bureau subscribers included major corporations,
law firms, government agencies, universities,
consulting firms, and libraries around
the world. These publications were purchased
by CQ Press in January 2005.
During 2000 and 2001, Randy served as
strategy and product development advisor
to Atlantic Media and the National Journal
Group in developing new government-related
publications and products.
Before entering the information industry, Randy was for 18 years an attorney in
the international practice of Hogan
& Hartson, Washington, DC's largest
and most international law firm. He
established and headed the firm's office
in Brussels, Belgium from 1990 to 1995, and
served as head of the firm's International
Group from 1996 to 1998. Randy specialized
in European regulatory and business
law, European Union regulation, and
international business.
As an attorney, Randy represented major
multinational corporations in 22 countries.
His clients have included Daimler-Benz,
Toyota Motor Sales, Church & Dwight,
Thyssen-Krupp, Herbalife International,
Caterpillar, the Government of the Bahamas,
and Payless ShoeSource.
Randy was an adjunct professor
at Georgetown University Law Center
from 2003 to 2006, teaching courses in international
trade law and the World Trade Organization.
Randy served as Policy Director to Senator Robert
Dole in the early 1980s and as Deputy Counsel to the Chairman of
the Republican National Committee in the 1990s.
Randy is a member of the Georgetown
Presbyterian Church, the Chevy Chase
Club, and the Council for International
Business at the University of Kansas.
Mr. Miller is a member of the D.C. Bar,
is registered as a foreign lawyer with
the Brussels Bar, and has been admitted
to practice before the U.S. Court of
International Trade. He is a member
of the International Bar Association
and American Bar Association.
Randy received his B.A. from Yale University
in 1976 and his J.D. from Georgetown
University in 1982. Between Yale and Georgetown, he worked in Los Angeles as a singer-songwriter.
He is marrried to Julie Sauder Miller
and has two children, Matthew and Christian,
who attend St. Albans School in Washington,
DC.
